Michel Barnier, the European Union's chief negotiator with the United Kingdom on the latter's withdrawal, said on Twitter on Thursday that he has tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

"I am doing well and in good spirits. I am following all the necessary instructions, as is my team. For all those affected already, and for all those currently in isolation, we will get through this together," tweeted Barnier, whose formal title now is the head of Task Force for Relations with the United Kingdom.

President of the European Council Charles Michel wished Barnier a speedy recovery on Twitter.
