COVID-19 cases in U.S. top 2,000: Johns Hopkins University

The number of COVID-19 cases in the United States have topped 2,000 by 9 p.m. EST Friday (0100 GMT on Saturday), according to the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University.

The fresh figure reached 2,028 with 43 deaths, the CSSE said.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported 1,678 as of 4 p.m. Thursday (2000 GMT Thursday).
