Qatar reelected into UN Human Rights Council

Qatar has been reelected into the UN Human Rights Council for the fourth round of three-year term for 2018-2020, a foreign ministry statement said Tuesday.

Qatar has won the term by 155 votes for Qatar from 193 votes, a statement by the Information Office at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

In the statement, the ministry hails the Qatar's reelection and mentioned that the victory came for the active and pioneering role of Qatar in protecting and promoting the human rights at the international level through its active membership in the council.

It also referred to the large number of countries that voted for Qatar, which are confident and believe in the Qatar's active role in the human rights field.

The Human Rights Council is responsible for addressing situations of human rights violations, which is made of 47 member states.
