Jordan is keen to continue its solid cooperation with China in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic, Jordan's Health Minister Saad Jaber said Tuesday.

"Since the outbreak of the coronavirus in Jordan, we started cooperating with China in this regard, and our cooperation is solid," the minister said in response to Xinhua's question during a press conference in Amman.

"We have been granted and imported lots of medical equipment from China, and we got reports from China about the situation there... Our cooperation with the Chinese embassy is firm, and we exchange information," Jaber said.

"We are closely following up on the development of a vaccine in China, and once it's proven successful, we will seek to acquire the vaccine from China, for the benefit of Jordanian citizens, " he added.

He revealed that Jordan has a specialized team that follows up on the global epidemiological situation regarding the vaccines and other medical development.

"Jordan is keen to continue its cooperation with China," the minister said.

Jordan reported five new cases of COVID-19 infection on Tuesday, increasing the total number of cases to 1,047, Jaber said.

All cases registered on Tuesday were persons coming from abroad, he added.

China has supported Jordan's fight against the pandemic. On May 31, China donated a batch of medical supplies to Jordan to help combat the coronavirus.
