APD | Toyota introduces low-priced hybrid cars to the Philippine market

**MANILA, Sept. 18 (APD) ** – Toyota Motor Philippines, Inc. introduced its latest hybrid and non-hybrid car models to the Philippine market recently.

Satoru Suzuki, Toyota Motor Philippines president said since the company had its debut in 1966, the company has introduced what he described as “All-New Toyota Corolla” with all the safety features.

“Speaking of ever better world through Hybrid, we had a previous of our electrification roadmap during our Hybrid Electric Technology Conference last May,” Suzuki said.

He added with the introduction of the Corolla Hybrid model, Suzuki said it has raised the mainstream, high-volume in familiar and well-loved model.

In a press briefing after the launch, Suzuki said they expect to sell at least 300 units monthly until December 2019 and aspires to sell hybrid models with at least seven percent of the total Toyota car sales across the country.

Asked how ASEAN has accepted hybrid cars, Suzuki said Thailand and Indonesia have used the model for the past years. Thailand has accepted hybrid cares over the past years.

He expressed optimism Filipinos would accept the hybrid models which are reasonably-priced.

Toyota Motor Philippines has sold 100,657 units from year to date with an increase of 4.1% compared to August 31,2018. This year’s sales saw an increase from 96,716 vehicles sold from January to August 31, 2017.
