At least one man riding a motorcycle blew himself up in front of the U.S. embassy in Tunisia's capital, Tunis, on Friday, leaving at least five police officers injured, local media reported.

The embassy confirmed the attack in a tweet, saying emergency personnel are responding to an explosion near the embassy and urged people to avoid the area.

The man was killed, according to AFP citing police source. But local radio Mosaique reported there may have been a second perpetrator.

The man has not been identified and his motives remain unclear.
