Man detained after attacking solider with knife in Paris

A man armed with a knife attacked a soldier in a metro station in Paris before being arrested, French Defence Minister Florence Parly said on Friday.

"The man is under control ... We don't know more about the intentions of the attacker who is arrested," Parly told local broadcaster Europe1.

This new attack "justifies what we want to do, that's to say make these (security) measures even more unpredictable, undetectable for potential attackers," she said.

No victims have been reported in the assault, the minister added.

According to local reports, a man tried to stab a soldier from the anti-terrorism Sentinelle Operation who was patrolling a metro station in Paris at around 06:30 local time (04:30 GMT).
