China's Taiwan remained the biggest market for Vietnamese overseas workers in the first 10 months of 2014, according to statistics by the Department of Overseas Labor Management under Vietnam's Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs on Tuesday.

The ministry said on its website that during the period, Vietnam sent 53,851 labors to China's Taiwan.

In order to well manage the activities of sending labors overseas, so far in 2014, the department has temporarily suspended the operation of over 40 companies in charge of sending Vietnamese labors to China's Taiwan due to violations in charging fees and wrongdoing in reduction of laborers' salaries.

During the period, Japan ranked second among markets for Vietnamese laborers with 16,283 people, while South Korea came third with 6,662 people, said the ministry.

In total, in the first 10 months of 2014, Vietnam sent 91,143 laborers to foreign countries for working, an increase of 29.54 percent over the same period in 2013, and 4.76 percent higher than the target set for the whole year 2014.
