7 missing after collision of vessels in East China Sea

Chinese maritime rescuers are searching for seven people aboard a fishing boat who went missing after the boat sank in the East China Sea following a collision with a freighter, according to the Shanghai marine search and rescue center Friday.

The collision occurred at 3:02 a.m. Friday, leaving the freighter with little damage. Both of the fishing boat and the freighter are registered in east China's Zhejiang Province.

The center has dispatched four patrol and rescue vessels, one aircraft to the shipwreck position and mobilized 15 commercial and fishing vessels passing the sea area to assist the searching.
