Toshihiro Nikai, Secretary-General of Japan’s Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), said he will lead a delegation of Japanese lawmakers and businessmen to Vietnam from January 11-14, 2020.

Speaking at a press conference in Tokyo, Nikai said that the largest-ever delegation will include about 1,000 members, including representatives of economic unions and Japanese businesses along with 20 members of the LDP and 20 Japanese high school students.

According to the LDP Secretary-General, during their visit to Vietnam, the delegation will have meetings with Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and some other leaders of Vietnam. These meetings will show their determination to continue strengthening cooperation and exchanges between the two countries in various fields. In addition, they will help concretize the fields that the two countries need to enhance collaboration as well as the areas that Japan can help Vietnam.

In the framework of the visit, there will be many other exchange activities such as a tourism exchange conference, a Japan-Vietnam investment promotion forum and a seminar on Vietnam’s human resources development.

As the lotus is considered the national flower in Vietnam, the Japanese delegation will present a Japanese lotus variety to Vietnam, in the hope that exchange activities between the two countries’ people and the bilateral cooperation will further develop in the future, he said.
