Member states of the World Health Organization must lead the next phase of global COVID-19 origin-tracing work, said the Chinese Foreign Ministry on Monday.
Hua Chunying, a spokesperson from the ministry, made the remarks while answering a question about WHO's statement on origins tracing on August 12.
Stressing the importance of the work, Hua said the WHO Secretariat should conduct a thorough consultation with member states on the global origin-tracing work plan, including the follow-up mechanism.
The WHO Secretariat should act on the WHA resolution, and fully respect the views of member states, and hold consultations with involved countries, said Hua.
