An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.4 jolted Fiji with a depth of 579.82 km, the U.S. Geological Survey said on Friday.

There were no reports of any damage or fatalities following the incident.

Though the earthquake is not as powerful as others on record, no tsunami warning has been issued as yet.

Fiji is located in the Pacific "Ring of Fire", where tectonic plates collide and frequent seismic and volcanic activity are experienced.
