Putin, Modi discuss Gulf, Libya, set meetings on phone

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a phone conversation Monday to discuss a number of pressing international issues, including the situation in the Gulf region and in Libya, the Kremlin said in a statement.

When discussing issues of the bilateral agenda, the two leaders talked about their readiness to further develop bilateral ties, the statement said.

Additionally, the Kremlin said Putin and Modi confirmed their intention to hold new personal meetings this year, including during the celebrations of the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War on May 9 in Moscow, and the scheduled summits of BRICS and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in St. Petersburg.

The meetings of the leaders of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa (BRICS) and the SCO summit are slated for July 21-23.
