Taliban leadership committee discusses formation of new government

The Taliban held a three-day meeting of the leadership committee in Kandahar, under the chairmanship of the group's supreme leader Haibatullah Akhundzada, said Taliban official Ahmadullah Wasiq on Tuesday.

The attendees at the meeting, which concluded on Monday, discussed the topics including the formation of a new government as well as political, social and security issues the country faces.

Earlier, the Russian Sputnik news agency, citing sources, reported that the Taliban will announce the formation of a new Afghan government on Friday.
