U.S. bombers showed up in China’s newly shaped Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ) in the East China Sea on Wednesdday.

With the proof of the U.S. defense officials, theWall Street Journalsaid that two American B-52 bomber jets flew over the disputed Diaoyu Islands on Monday without noticing Beijing in advance. The report said that the two bomber jets took off from Anderson Air Force Base in Guam and entered into China’s new ADIZ on Monday. They were neither armed nor accompanied by any escort planes.

The U.S. asserted that that the B-52s flight was part of a long-planned exercise called Coral Lightning.

News commentator He Liangliang told the APD that the retionale behind the U.S. to do so, is that it finds its hegemony in airspace of the world being challenged.

"It had long been an understatement that for many countries in the region, if not the world, ADIZs have to be established under the umbrella of the U.S.." He said, "Chinese ADIZ's sudden formation is totally unexpected, which largely irritated the White House, the Department of State, and the Pentagon."

But he noted that China has no intention to challenge the Americans at all, but to defend itself from external pressures.

Hto cope with the U.S.'s irritation, He made two proposistions

"First, since the public opinion in the west are generally against China, Beijing has to make clear to the world that it is on the passive side, and fully adhere to international laws,"

"Secondly, apart from the the Ministry of National Defense, the National Security Committee of the Central government, which has been recently formed, should have a role to play, as what's going is way beyound the a strategic spectrum."

He said the U.S. may test China's bottom line by sending out aircrafts to the East China Sea on a regular basis. Its Vice President Joe Biden will visit China next week. It would also be an opportunity for the two countries to break the deadlock.

As for Japan, He said Toykyo may dispatch its own fighter jets to China's ADIZ in the same vein, possibly passing by the disputed Diaoyu islets on purpose.

He said a real fight is unlikely, unless any clashes accidentally occur. But China's determination to guard its own turf is worth-noting.
