Sean O'Fearghail has been re-elected on Thursday as chairperson of the lower house of the Irish parliament, announced Peter Finnegan, clerk of the lower house.
His re-election took place during the first sitting of the house which was held here Thursday afternoon.
O'Fearghail received 130 votes in favour for his re-election, 50 votes more than the minimum 80 required, during a secret ballot among 160 members of the house, who were newly elected in the country's general election held earlier this month.
