Palestine on Tuesday said that it will begin implementing precautionary measures to prevent the contamination of wastewater with COVID-19.
If wastewater is contaminated, it may reach citizens, the Palestinian Water Authority said in a press statement.
"In order to guarantee the sustainability and safety of basic services, we are putting all necessary precautionary measures in place," the Water Authority's statement said, explaining that its plan is coordinated with the relevant bodies that would prevent the direct practices that may lead to the outbreak of the virus through dumping wastewater in safe areas and protecting herders and farmers from it.
The total number of COVID-19 cases in Palestine has reached 261 so far.
