Israel's COVID-19 death toll rises to 201 as total cases reach 15,443

The number of coronavirus deaths in Israel rose Sunday from 199 to 201, the state's Ministry of Health said.

The two new victims are 90-year-old Ahmad Nama, former mayor of the northern town of Deir al-Asad, and a 66-year-old nurse from Sheba Medical Center in central Israel.

According to the ministry, 15,443 coronavirus cases have been diagnosed in Israel so far, 145 of them on Sunday.

The number of patients in serious condition increased from 127 to 133, including an 11-year-old girl who is treated at Rambam Hospital in the northern city of Haifa.

In total, 382 patients are currently hospitalized, while 6,731 have so far recovered from coronavirus, 296 of them on Sunday.

Earlier on Sunday, the Israel Employment Service said the number of new unemployed workers in the country, since the beginning of the country's coronavirus crisis, has reached 1,011,205.
