Tokyo stocks jump higher by midday on positive industrial output data

Tokyo shares ended the morning session higher on Wednesday as sentiment here was boosted by a better-than-expected industrial output data for September.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average jumped 211.29 points, or 1. 38 percent, higher from Tuesday to 15,541.20.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 16.99 points, or 1.36 percent, to 1, 268.99.

Gainers were led by brokerage, steel and nonferrous metal issues.
