Chinese President Xi Jinping has decided to look outside the Communist Party of China (CPC) to pool strength for realization of the Chinese dream of national rejuvenation.

It is essential for the CPC to unite all the forces of society and bring all positive factors into play as China transforms itself, with reform of almost every area.

Targeted groups include students studying abroad, religious groups, outstanding intellectuals from new media organizations and those working in private sectors of the economy. Mobilization of non-CPC intellectuals who have contributed to development will bring the dream of a moderately prosperous society much closer.

The meeting of the united front work which closed on Wednesday, saw representatives from new media organizations singled out as vital forces which should be cultivated. Technology has left the traditional communication pattern dramatically changed and the Internet dominates dissemination of public information. Those who have a good knowledge of the Internet and new media can be encouraged to help purify cyberspace and promote mainstream ideology online.

Young entrepreneurs are another targeted group. The private sector is important to the whole economy and China is trumpeting the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship. Premier Li Keqiang has repeatedly called on young people to start their own businesses to increase employment and gather new momentum for economic growth.

In addition, the return of students studying abroad who are highly educated and open-minded will inject vigor into the economy.
