UAE welcomes peace agreement between Ethiopia, regional Tigray forces

Foreign Minister of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Saturday met with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia Demeke Mekonnen Hassen in Abu Dhabi.

During the meeting, the UAE Foreign Minister welcomed the peace agreement between the Ethiopian government and the Tigray People's Liberation Front (TPLF), praising the efforts of the African Union and the Ethiopian government in reaching this agreement, according to UAE state news agency WAM.

On his part, Demeke Mekonnen Hassen expressed the commitment and readiness of the Federal Government of Ethiopia to implement the peace agreement towards ensuring sustainable peace in the country.

Furthermore, the discussions include enhancing bilateral relations between the two countries in areas of trade and investment, among others.
