Myanmar's parliament oks formation of constitutional tribunal

Myanmar's Union Parliament Monday approved the formation of a nine-member constitutional tribunal after the military representatives failed to object two of the nominated members for appointment as tribunal members.

Proposed by the president-elect U Htin Kyaw, the approved constitutional tribunal is headed by U Myo Nyunt, who is nominated by the House of Representatives (Lower House) for the establishment of the tribunal.

The president-elect and the two houses were set to nominate three persons each to form the constitutional tribunal.

The other members are U Nyee Nyee, U Myint Win, U Myo Myint, Khin Man Kyu, Daw Khin Htay Kywe, U Dwar Kyin Paung, Daw Hla Myo Nwe and U Kyaw Hsan.

Of them, Daw Khin Htay Kywe, nominated by the House of Representative, and U Dwar Kyin Paung, by the House of Nationalities, faced objection by a military representative. Enditem
