Russian COVID-19 cases surpass 880,000

Russia has registered 5,212 COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, bringing its total to 882,347, the country's coronavirus response center said Saturday.

Meanwhile, 129 people died in the same period, taking the death toll to 14,854, while 6,615 patients recovered, raising the total number of recoveries to 690,207, the center said.

Moscow, the hardest-hit region in Russia, has recorded 691 new cases in the past 24 hours, taking its tally of infections to 246,845, it said.

According to Russia's public health watchdog Rospotrebnadzor, as of Friday, over 30.3 million tests for COVID-19 have been conducted across the country since the beginning of the outbreak, while 242,672 people were still under medical observation.
