Iran extends closure of schools as coronavirus spreads

The Iranian government on Thursday extended the closure of all schools and universities until March 19 which is the end of the current Iranian year, as the novel coronavirus is spreading in the country, Tasnim news agency reported.

The announcement was made by Saeed Namaki, minister of Health and Medical Education, warning that travelling will increase the infection risk.

Meanwhile, it was also announced that the university entrance exams for the master's and PhD degrees have been postponed.

Earlier in the day, Iran announced that the death toll from the novel coronavirus in the country has grown to 107, with 3,513 confirmed cases.
