JAKARTA, July 6 (APD) – Indonesia brings security and economic agendas in the upcoming G20 Summit held in Hamburg, Germany by calling for cohesive efforts among member countries in combating terrorism and in addressing inclusive, sustainable and responsible economy as well.
Indonesian President Joko Widodo was scheduled to deliver a keynote speech on contra-terrorism efforts in the 2-day Hamburg G20 Summit slated from July 7, Indonesia Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi said recently.
“How we can promote economic growth which can be accomplished through inclusive method, addressing environment preservation,” the minister said, explaining Indonesia’s economic agenda in the Hamburg G20 Summit.
She also said that Indonesia would also call for G20 member countries’ communal responsibilities in developing a civilized world.
President Widodo departed to Germany on Wednesday, to stopover in Turkey where he would make a bilateral official visit, meet Turkish leader Tayyip Erdogan before continuing his flight to Germany.
President Widodo’s visit to Turkey is a return courtesy visit to Erdogan after the latter’s official visit to Indonesia in July 2015.
“President Widodo would discuss various issues, among others economy, trade and anti-terrorism efforts with President Erdogan and possibilities to develop cooperation in defense industry,” Retno said in the presidential palace.
The minister said that two-way trade between Indonesia and Turkey has reached 1.3 billion U.S. Dollars with Indonesia’s exports to Turkey was valued 1 billion U.S. Dollars.
During the G20 Summit, President Widodo is scheduled to have bilateral meetings with leaders attending the annual summit, with the United States President Donald Trump was among those confirmed to do so, the Indonesian foreign minister said.
