APD | Most foreign tourists visit India from Bangladesh, the US and UK

According to recent data released by the Ministry of Tourism most foreign tourists who visit India come from Bangladesh, the US and UK.

The data further reveals that the province of Tamil Nadu was the most visited province by foreign tourists in 2018. Around 6 million foreign tourists visited the province last year.

The ministry presented the data to the Parliament. The information was shared by the ministry at the request of Member of Parliament Vanga Geetha Viswanath in Lok Sabha, the lower house of the Parliament.

Moreover it showed that the number of foreign tourists had grown from 2016 to 2018.

According to the report, “In 2017, arrivals from Bangladesh increased significantly to 21,56,557 from 12,80,409 in the previous year.”

“In 2018, the number further went up to 22,56,675. The trend from Pakistan showed a sharp contrast, with numbers falling from 1,04,720 in 2016 to 44,266 in 2017, and further dropping to 41,659 in 2018,” it further added.
