China's postal sector sees stellar growth in May

China's postal industry registered stellar growth in revenue and business volume last month as reopening of businesses gathered more steam amid further containment of COVID-19, latest official data showed.

In May, the business revenue of the sector totaled 95.11 billion yuan (about 13.4 billion U.S. dollars), up 21.9 percent year on year, according to statistics released by the State Post Bureau.

Business volume expanded 38.4 percent from the same period last year to 181.25 billion yuan.

In May, China's express delivery firms handled 7.38 billion parcels, up 41.1 percent from one year earlier, with their business revenues surging 24.9 percent year on year to 77.19 billion yuan.

In the first five months of the year, business revenue and business volume of the postal sector jumped 8.9 percent and 19.6 percent, respectively, year on year.
