A senior military officer Friday called on the military to make new advances in disciplinary inspection and supervision so as to provide support for building strong armed forces in the new era.

Zhang Youxia, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and vice chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC), made the remarks at a meeting of the CMC's discipline inspection commission.

Demanding consistency in full and strict governance over the Party, Zhang ordered the military to take firm action to improve conduct, build integrity and combat corruption.

Zhang also stressed efforts to build a sound supervision system and improve the quality and efficiency of oversight over discipline compliance and law enforcement.
