**PHNOM PENH, April 24 (APD) ** - Cambodia’s Central Bank, the National Bank of Cambodia (NBC), called for the cooperation among the stakeholders to spread out the financial literacy nationwide.
Neav Chanthana, deputy governor of National Bank of Cambodia said at the the National Financial Literacy Day held on Tuesday that the promoting the financial literacy is important in boosting the national economic growth, stabling macro economy and financial, the strengthen of banking and finance, sustainable of operation of banks and microfinance institutes, particularly people’s economic growth.
She said that to promote the financial literacy, all the banks and microfinance institutes to actively participate with the government through the National Bank of Cambodia.
“I please to call banks and microfinance institutes to have enough budget to train their own staffs and spread the financial literacy to the publics,” Ms Chanthana said.
Im Koch, secretary of state of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, echoed the remarks, saying it will make Cambodia prepares for the digital economy in the future.
“Organizing the financial literacy day clarifies the necessary and urgent in developing human capital in Cambodia which replies the demand in domestic, in the region, and in the world, which are constantly progressing,” Mr Koch said. “It ensures the competitiveness of Cambodia in the digital economy in near future.”
