Confirmed COVID-19 cases in Bangladesh surpass 183,000 with record 5,580 single-day recoveries

Bangladesh reported 2,666 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, bringing the total to over 183,000.

Nasima Sultana, a senior Health Ministry official, said in a briefing in Dhaka that "2,666 new COVID-19 positive cases and 47 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours across Bangladesh."

She said the number of confirmed infections in the country totaled 183,795 while fatalities stood at 2,352.

Meanwhile, she mentioned that the COVID-19 fatality rate in Bangladesh is now 1.28 percent against the total number of detected cases so far in the country.

According to the official, 11,059 samples were tested in the last 24 hours in labs across the country.

She said the total number of recovered patients in the country now stands at 93,614 including record 5,580 on Sunday.

The current recovery rate is 50.93 percent, she added.

Bangladesh recorded the highest 4,019 cases in a 24-hour period on July 2. And the country reported the highest 64 deaths of COVID-19 patients in a day on June 30.
