Corinthians midfielder Maycon has completed a deal to join Ukrainian club Shakhtar Donetsk, according to the Brazilian club's coach.

But the 20-year-old is expected to remain with the reigning Brazilian Serie A champions until the World Cup, which begins in Russia on June 14.

Corinthians coach Fabio Carille told the Aquicom Benja television program that Maycon had been withdrawn from the team's squad for Sunday's Serie A opener against Fluminense.

"Maycon has already been sold but he will continue with us until the World Cup and could still be used before then," Carille said. "The team is playing well and when that happens it's normal for other clubs to be interested in our players."

Maycon, who plays as both a holding midfielder and a left-back, has made 91 first-team appearances for Corinthians since his debut for the club in 2016.

He has also represented Brazil at under-17 and under-20 level.

Shakhtar Donetsk currently have eight Brazilians in their first-team squad: Taison, Fred, Dentinho, Bernard, Wellington Nem, Alan Patrick, Ismaily and Dodo.
