Drone images shot on February 6 show what looks like a giant turquoise ribbon zigzagging through the valley of Kuruktag Mountains in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

The colors of rivers are determined by water quality and the amount of sediment, algae and dissolved organic carbon in water.

Turquoise rivers are usually located in sparsely populated mountains.
