China passes law to revive rural areas

Chinese lawmakers on Thursday adopted a law on promoting rural revitalization, which will be put into force on June 1.

Enacted by the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, it provides for a harvest festival for farmers, an assessment system for rural revitalization as well as rural housing construction and farmers' relocation.

It also calls for improving the mechanism of ecological protection.
