Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Sunday met with the head of the UN-recognized government in Libya after a truce took effect in the war-torn Libya.

Erdogan received Fayez al-Sarraj, head of the Government of National Accord (GNA), at the Dolmabahce Palace in Istanbul behind closed doors.

Their meeting lasted around two-and-a-half hours, and no statement has been issued afterward.

Both the GNA and its rival Libyan National Army, loyal to the commander Khalifa Haftar, accepted the cease-fire called for by the Turkish and Russian presidents on Wednesday.

Erdogan and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin called on all parties in Libya for an immediate cease-fire as of Jan. 12.
