At least 6 injured in oil rig explosion near New Orleans, U.S.

An oil rig exploded on Sunday in Jefferson Parish County, in the U.S. state of Louisiana, injuring at least six people, authorities said.

No fatalities have been reported as of Sunday night. County authorities said on their Facebook page that the Kenner police department and the U.S. coast guard have been working on the site of the explosion.

Jefferson Parish is located between the Gulf of Mexico and Lake Pontchartrain.
