Changes can bring opportunities. From water to land, Poyang Lake fishermen in east China embrace new life ashore after China instituted a 10-year fishing ban starting from this year.
Pan Haimu, 59-year-old, is a fisherman living in Hukou County, east China's Jiangxi Province. He has been living on fishing for almost 40 years.
After the fishing ban was implemented, his village established a agricultural cooperative, which transfered 500 mu of land to develop specialty planting industry. Ex-fishermen can claim the seedlings and land in the cooperative, take charge of management of the seedlings, and receive dividends.
