"The real-size simulator of high-speed trains is definitely the highlight of the exhibition. You can experience driving this fast train from the city of Xi'an to Astana in just an instant," said Lin.

The China Pavilion has five different exhibition areas with the theme of “Future Energy and Green Silk Road”. The pavilion covers an area of 1,000 square meters and focuses particularly on the achievements China has made in modernizing its energy sector, utilizing renewables, protecting the environment and promoting sustainable economic development.

China started developing nuclear fusion energy in the 1950s and joined the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER ) project as an equal member in 2007. China has since started to shoulder the burden of realizing mankind’s nuclear fusion energy dream side by side with other international energy powers.

The Astana Expo 2017 is scheduled for June 10 to September 10, under the theme of “Future Energy”. The 133-hectare venue resembles the shape of a raindrop to remind visitors about the limited nature of the planet’s resources.

At present over 100 countries are expected to participate in the expo, with each having their own pavilion. The organizers hope the expo will raise awareness and encourage debate about climate change.
