On April 30, a photography exhibition featuring the ancient Silk Road kicked off in Liaocheng, China's eastern Shandong province. The exhibition focuses on the culture and precious scenery along the ancient trade route.

The photos were taken by Zhao Guangtian, a researcher at the Gansu Provincial Museum and a full-time heritage photographer.

Having engaged in photography for 45 years, he has held many solo exhibitions and frequently participated in academic photography exchange activities at home and abroad.

Zhao picked Liaocheng for the debut show for two reasons. First, Liaocheng is his hometown where his parents and most relatives and friends live. Second, it is a city of ancient historical and cultural value.

I hope the photo display can serve as a bridge for cultural exchanges between Gansu and Shandong to promote the development of culture and tourism in the two provinces. I also wish to introduce the precious history and culture of Gansu and western China to Shandong and the whole country, said Zhao.

Officials from the Shandong Photographers Association, the Publicity Department of Liaocheng Municipal Party Committee, Liaocheng Federation of Literature and Art Circles, Liaocheng Photographers Association and Liaocheng Photographic Art Association attended and addressed the opening ceremony of the exhibition.

An official from the Publicity Department of Liaocheng Municipal Party Committee spoke highly of the exhibition. Zhao keeps his hometown in mind and is committed to spreading the culture of western China and the whole country. The people of Liaocheng are proud of him.
