The Colombian authorities seized more than 1.2 tons of marijuana Sunday in a rural area of the northern Magdalena department.

The confiscated drugs, seized with the help of a tip, have a local street value of 369,000 U.S. dollars, which would be tripled abroad, Narcotics Police Director Luis Alberto Perez said.

"The 1,250 kilos of marijuana 'red dot' type are ready for shipment to the coast, and will be sent by "Go Fast" speedboats to the islands of the Caribbean, where the Colombian marijuana is currently marketed and consumed", Perez said.

The investigation conducted by the Police Narcotics Division concluded that the storage center belongs to the criminal gang "Los Urabenos", and the drugs would go to Sinaloa cartel partners.
