Ten more bodies were retrieved on Tuesday from the village hit by a landslide in Biliran province in central Philippines, bringing the total number of dead in the storm to 41, the government official said.

Jun Dacillo, the head of Biliran Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, said that 10 more bodies were recovered from a village hit by a landslide in Biliran.

The retrieval of the 10 additional bodies in Biliran brings the total fatalities in the Philippines from tropical storm Kai-Tak to 41.

Dacillo said 23 more remain missing in Biliran landslide alone. Now search and retrieval operations are ongoing to find the remaining 23 bodies at two sites.

On Monday, Philippine presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said that at least eight people died in landslides and flooding triggered by tropical storm Kai-Tak in other provinces from the central Philippines besides Biliran since November 16.

In a news conference, Harry Roque said five people died in Leyte, one in Eastern Samar, and two in Samar.

Aside from the number of casualties, Roque said the storm also affected 62,309 families and about 270,707 affected individuals.

He said the storm also damaged roads and bridges in Eastern Samar and Samar provinces.
