Thisfilm,directedbyKeikoYagi,attemptstorebuttheAcademyAwardwinningmovie“TheCove.”Asweallknow,therearetwosidestoeverystory,sothisoughttobeaninterestingperspective.

Thefilm’sposterasks“WhyisJapan’straditionalfoodculturebeingtargeted?”InJapan,“TheCove”promptedaplethoraofnegativereactionsbytheJapanesewhofelttheircountryhadbeensingledoutbyafilmthatwas“unwarranted,unfair,andmanipulative”accordingtoapressreleaseforYagi’sfilm.TheJapaneseMinisterofAgricultureandFisheriesreportedlysaid,“ItisregrettablethatthismovieismadeasamessagethatbrutalJapanesearekillingcutedolphins.”Yagicallsfor“understandingdifferencesinfoodculturesandreligions.”Whetherornotoneagreeswithkillingdolphins,it’sprobablyworthatleastlisteningtotheothersideofthestory.
