China reports 5.3% GDP growth in Q1 of 2024

China's gross domestic product expanded by 5.3 percent year-on-year to 29.63 trillion yuan in the first quarter of 2024, the National Bureau of Statistics said on Tuesday.

Retail sales, a key measurement of consumer spending, increased 4.7 percent year-on-year in the first three months, the NBS said.
