At least seven people were killed and six others injured in an incident of roof collapse in Pakistan's northwestern region of Bajaur Agency in the wee hours of Monday morning, officials said.

An official from the local administration said that the accident happened when a big wall of an old fort fell down at two adjacent houses in Khar area of Bajaur Agency, the country's tribal region bordering Afghanistan.

Local people rushed to the site and managed to pull out the bodies and injured from the debris.

Locals shifted the bodies and injured to the hospital by themselves as the remote area of the mountainous terrain lacks the rescue service.

Residents of the two houses who were sleeping at that time were buried under the debris after the heavy wall of the fort fell down at their houses.

Four children and three women were among the deceased, said the official, adding that the death toll might further rise as three of the injured are in critical condition.
