An outdoor temporary computed tomography (CT) scan room was put into use at Beijing Chaoyang Hospital Friday amid the novel coronavirus outbreak.
The CT scan room was set 50 meters away from the fever clinic of the hospital so that the patients with fever can receive CT scanning without entering the hospital building, reducing the risks of cross-infection, according to hospital sources.
CT scanning result serves as an important basis for clinical diagnosis of novel coronavirus pneumonia. The fever clinic of Beijing Chaoyang Hospital saw about 100 patients each day recently, about 80 of whom need to receive CT scanning for further diagnosis.
To contain the spread of the virus and reduce the chances of cross-infection, the hospital decided to set up the outdoor temporary CT scan room near the fever clinic.
The room has dual channels for patients and doctors, respectively.
