S. Korea to further assess environmental impact of THAAD

S. Korea will further assess the environmental impact of the THAAD missile system in the coming months, according to the national Yonhap News Agency.

The ministry said it will decide whether to fully deploy the US missile system on its soil after the assessment is done in accordance with a domestic law.

Consultation will soon begin with the US side, including the size of an area subject to the measure, an official within the ministry said.

Currently, two out of six THAAD launchers have been deployed in S. Korea. Earlier, the presidential office said the other four will have to wait until the end of the study on their environmental impact.
