Iran says US should give up language of threat

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham said Tuesday that the United States should give up the language of threat while dealing with Iran.

Commenting on recent remarks of U.S. President Barack Obama for keeping military force alongside diplomacy on the table while dealing with Iran over its controversial nuclear program, Afkham said that it is regretful that they are still using language of threat instead of language of respect.

"We have announced that this language (of threats) should be replaced by the language of respect," she said in her weekly press briefing on Tuesday.

On Sunday, Obama said the deal with Syria on its chemical weapons could serve as a "lesson" to Iran to take advantage of diplomacy over its nuclear program.

The nuclear issue is "far larger" than the chemical weapons, he said in an interview with ABC News.

"Insistance on unreal and illogical stances will bear no results," said the Iranian spokeswoman.
