Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic said on Tuesday that Croatia will get more than 22 billion euros (25.2 billion U.S. dollars) through the European Union (EU) deal on a post-coronavirus recovery package that was reached after a four-day marathon EU summit in Brussels.
"This is an unprecedented achievement. Croatia will get more than double than in the first seven years of membership. In this way we will have a real, great and solid lever to implement reforms and projects, and, most importantly, to quickly recover," Plenkovic told Croatian news agency Hina.
He explained that this deal proves the importance of Croatia's EU membership. Croatia joined the EU in 2013.
"We are among those countries that have received more funds in cohesion and agriculture. After a lot of work, I can say that we have done a good job here in Brussels," Plenkovic told Hina.
Plenkovic, who has been Croatian prime minister since October 2016, won the parliamentary election two weeks ago and will continue to run the country in the next four years.
