A 7.0-magnitude earthquake struck Jiuzhaigou County in southwestern China’s Sichuan Province Tuesday night. The search and rescue operation is underway.

An intern of Jiuzhai InterContinental Paradise Hotel risked his life to save four children while he was running out from the hotel. “I can’t take them all out once, so I took two of them first, and then went back to pick the other two,” said Wang Yuan, a junior student of Tibet Minzu University.

On the way to the epicenter, some rescuers were caught in the traffic jam in Pingwu County, 180 miles away to the Jiuzhaigou. A restaurant owner provided them with beef noodles for free.

Ms. Shi was the only passenger of No. 3U8328 flight. She insisted to fly back to the Jiuzhaigou after the strong earthquake happened. The 25-year-old young lady is the owner of a hotel there. Because worrying about the safety of her employees and guests, she chose to come back. After she returned, she set up a service point, providing free food and accommodation for rescuers and stranded tourists.
