Indonesian president asks ministry to review aviation procedures after plane misses

Indonesian President Joko Widodo on Monday asked the transport ministry to check whether all procedures and process in aviation are in line with those requested by the international civil aviation organization following the loss of an AirAsia plane with 162 people on board.

"I have asked the transport ministry to review all procedures in aviation and all process in flight of planes maximally, to ensure they are in accordance with the rules of the international civil aviation organization," President Widodo told a press conference.

The president urged the National Transport Safety Committee to work fast in uncovering the cause of the loss of the ill-fated AirAsia Indonesia flight QZ8501.

On the searching operation, South Korea will join Malaysia, Singapore and Australia on Tuesday to help Indonesia to find the plane, he said.

Malaysia has deployed three ships and one plane, Australia has dispatched two planes, and Singapore have sent two planes and two ships, said President Widodo.

Indonesia has deployed 21 planes and 24 ships, he said. Enditem
