Autopsy reports have shown a watermelon vendor's death was caused by "external force."

The autopsy results were announced after the death of Deng Zhengjia ignited criticism on unchecked violence of city management officers.

The results were based on separate autopsies by the Public Security Bureau of Chenzhou City, and Sun Yat-sen University, based in another province.

56-year-old Deng Zhengjia was dead on July 17, after brawling with city management officers in Chenzhou city's Linwu county, in central China's Hunan Province.

Deng and his wife were selling watermelons at a riverside scenic spot, an action banned by city management officers.

He died of an intracranial hemorrhage after the physical clashes.

Six officers have been detained for allegedly causing intentional injury.
